Cookie policy

The short version

This site does not set cookies. There is nothing for you to accept, decline or manage.

Most sites open with a banner asking permission to track you. We do not need one, because we are not tracking you. No cookies are set when you load this page, no local storage is written, and no third-party script runs.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise your browser on a later visit. Cookies are how sites keep you logged in, remember a shopping basket, or follow you between sites to build an advertising profile.

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and the UK PECR, a website must get your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Analytics and advertising cookies always need consent. That rule is why banners exist.

Fonts and other third parties

This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. That does not set a cookie, but it does mean your IP address reaches Google's servers when the fonts are fetched. If you would rather that did not happen, the fonts can be self-hosted, and we intend to move to self-hosting.

Beyond fonts and our own hosting provider, no third-party service runs on this site.

If this changes

We may add analytics later, to understand which pages are read. If we do:

• A consent banner will appear, and no analytics cookie will be set until you accept
• Declining will cost you nothing — every part of this site will keep working
• This page will be updated to name the provider, the cookies, and how long they last
• The date at the top will change

Controlling cookies generally

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies in its settings, usually under Privacy. Blocking all cookies will break many sites — it will not break this one.
