Who we are

This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit cognizzo.com. It is deliberately short, because this site collects very little.

Cognizzo LLC is the data controller for this website. SubtitleBeast and Wurqur are trading names of Cognizzo LLC and each operates its own site under its own privacy policy. This policy covers cognizzo.com only.

What we collect

Two things, and only two.

Server logs, collected automatically

Our web server records each request it receives. Those records contain your IP address, the pages requested, the date and time, your browser and operating system, and the page that referred you. This happens for every website and cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Anything you send us

If you email us, we hold your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. Nothing more.

What we do not collect

  • No analytics. We do not currently measure visits, sessions or behaviour.
  • No cookies. This site does not set any. See our cookie policy.
  • No advertising or tracking pixels, and no third-party trackers of any kind.
  • No account, no profile, no login.

We do not sell personal data, and we never have. We do not share it for advertising or profiling.

Why we hold it, and on what legal basis

DataPurposeLawful basis
Server logsOperating the site, diagnosing faults, and protecting it against abuse and attackLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) — running a website securely
Email correspondenceReplying to you and continuing the conversationLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f), or steps prior to a contract, Article 6(1)(b)

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

Where your data is processed

This site is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the eu-north-1 region, Stockholm, Sweden. Server logs stay there.

Cognizzo LLC is a United States company, and the person who operates it is currently located in Pakistan. That means personal data may be accessed from Pakistan, and from the United States. Neither Pakistan nor the United States generally holds a European Commission adequacy decision, so where transfers of that kind take place we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses under Article 46 of the UK and EU GDPR, together with appropriate technical measures.

We tell you this plainly because a company that hides where its data is handled is a company you should not send data to.

How long we keep it

DataRetention
Server logs30 days, then deleted automatically
Email correspondenceFor as long as the conversation is live, and up to 24 months afterwards in case it resumes
Records we must keep by lawAs long as the relevant law requires

Who else sees it

Only the providers that make the site work. Each one is bound by a written agreement and processes data only on our instructions.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim. If Cognizzo LLC is ever sold or merged, data may transfer with the business — and this policy would continue to apply to it.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Delete it
  • Restrict how we use it
  • Provide it in a portable format
  • Stop processing it where we rely on legitimate interests — you can object at any time

Email privacy@cognizzo.com. We respond within 30 days and we do not charge for it.

If you are in California, you have comparable rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, to delete, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Complaints

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first — we would rather fix it. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority at any time, and in the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the hosting environment requires multi-factor authentication. We collect very little, which is itself the strongest protection available: data that was never collected cannot be leaked.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and tell you directly where the law requires it.

Children

This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will say so on this page rather than expecting you to spot the difference.
